  • Figure 1a - Skin Prick Test (SPT) for nasal allergy - Different droplets of allergens are placed on the forearm. A very small needle is used to prick the outer layer of skin to allow the allergen to enter the skin.

  • Figure 1b - The forearm is assessed about 15-20 minutes later. The size of the wheal is measured for interpretation of the SPT.

  • A flexible nasoendoscope (lighted scope with a camera on one end) is inserted through the nasal cavity and is guided to the posterior nasal space (back of nose) and to the level of the larynx (voice box). The procedure is done in the clinic setting after application of topical anaesthesia (numbing agent) and decongestant.
